Counting time

For Lois' case, every second counts. Seven months forward from Feb 2006 and she's sitting upright, stepping forward and backward in her walker, managing to cruise when held, grabbing objects tightly, eating biscuits and mashed vegetables and just awhile ago, clapping her hands. Her weekly progress thrills Daddy Poh and me. We almost jumped up and down. By the day, she's becoming less and less our tiny bundle of joy who cries to call our attention. Lois yells, says 'papa', 'baba', and 'mama' and she responds to us by following what we want her to do. If parenting is this fulfilling, I certainly made the right choice of signing up full-time.

Little star
With her smiling eyes, cute cheeks, hairy head and sunny disposition, Lois lights up every room. She's a star, not just at home but even in malls, restaurants, at our church. Well, generally all babies are like that and I'm pleased that she belongs to the charming majority. She's not as plump and heavy weight as I wish it, but she's all a good package. May she grow up comfortable enough with different types of people, humble enough to mingle well and confident enough to stand up and speak out for herself. I'm a bit afraid that when she gets so used to people's attention, she might grow up swell-headed and start to crave attention. Life is never about crowds and mass of people, it's more of making the right choices which oftentimes include taking the road less traveled.

Good start
Yet so far, Lois is on the right track. Lately, her neck got irritated when I applied Fissan anti-prickly heat powder on her. Instead of improving, her skin had rashes which turned red then yellow until they dried up. I expected that she would be fussy and would cry a lot especially because the weather's like summer - it's hot everywhere, all the time! Yet Lois' rashes came and gone without changing her mood. She was the jolly Lois Maya all throughout the ordeal.

Also, she seems to be very sociable even at this stage. Stranger anxiety only applied to her Ninong Marvin, I don't know but she almost always cries when he holds her, but never to other people. I thought before that as long as she sees Daddy Poh or me, she's able to enjoy other people's company, but Nanny Mhagie's reports convinced me that with or without her parents, she's jolly. Key is the number three. As long as it's Lois and two other baby-interested else, she's fine.
