- In betweens
- Dia del Galeon - It's a festival being staged for the first time in the Philippines. At first, I thought, what a colonial thing in the 21st Century, but upon working with its main girl, Charisse Aquino-Tugade, got to know that it highlights Filipinos role in the 250-year old Galleon Trade. Like sails from the galleon ships were manufactured and hand woven in Ilocos Sur, and that a lot of cultural exchanges were made between Acapulco and Manila.
- USA Riva - There is board game like this, I just can't remember what it's called. I used to love it in high school, was even a representative of our Journalism Class in one tournament, I loss to a younger opponent though. This iPhone version features cheats, like the system would have several suggestions of moves you can make. To win against the computer, you have to cover the whole board with your chips. Preschoolers and toddlers wouldn't get it.
- Angry Birds - A game for the whole family, it's easy to learn plus very fun to play! It requires logic, skill, and brute force to win over the pigs who have stolen the birds' egg. Kid boy loves it so much he can tell just by listening to the sounds if a player won.
- Apple Tree Books - I love iPhone storybooks! The graphics are fabulous, the stories are kid-friendly and some great ones are free. One specific story book publisher is AppleTreeApp and they're great.
It has been a family bedtime ritual to read six iPhone storybooks before bedtime and some of the kids favorites include titles like The Little Horse Crosses the River and The Lion and The Mouse. - Shrek Race - My little boy's first name has a car syllable in it, rightfully so because he is enamored with cars and everything about it. He can identify car brands through their logos, though he's a bit confused with Honda and Hyundai's H. One of his favorite racing games is the Shrek Kart game. Mid-2010 when Shrek 4 came out, this was his top pick, though he usually wins when he chooses to play using Gingerbread.
- Fashion Designer - Definitely a girl app from StyleStudio, I enjoy playing this too whenever I get the chance. I'm very impressed with what my little girl creates. When I get the time, will upload Lois' creations for posterity. Movies
- The Incredibles - Kids picked up funny lines from this flick. I tell them a Filipino was part of the team who did the movie, that's why the name Jack-jack
- Monsters Inc. - Another funny one, Pixar revolutionized animation with hairy creatures in 3D. Because of this movie, the kids get the concept of being afraid of monsters in a manipulative way. My little girl would sometimes convince her little brother that the sound she hears came from a monster upstairs asking to share a toy. Books
- Zig Ziglar's Something to Smile About - Got some inspiring quotes and trivia from this book. Also got the strategy to say yes to your kids, while at the same time making them do what you have in mind. A win-win strategy.
- Zondervan's New Women Devotional Bible - An old gift from husband, I have read this book several times and have graduated from it. I keep it in my bag because it's small and a handy reference for meetings meriting its use.
